FTP SecurityOver the last year there has been a substantial increase in the number of sites on the internet that have been hacked due to viruses that steal FTP credentials from user's home computers. The hackers then use these credentials to insert hidden code within your website. Please see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gumblar for more information on this type of attack. To reduce the significant threat from these viruses we have been working with a focus group of Resellers and direct customers to come up with a solution that protects websites. The solution is to lock FTP when it's not in use, making it extremely difficult for the hackers to infect your site via this route. To unlock FTP, customers will simply log into their eXtend control panel and click one button to unlock FTP for a period of time. FTP will then automatically lock again after the time period has expired.
Customers will also be able to nominate an IP address that has permanent FTP access, customers FTPing from that IP address will not have to unlock FTP. Nor will you have to unlock FTP if you use the File Manager within the eXtend control panel. These security measures will be effective as from 15th February 2010 and will ensure that the majority of sites have FTP locked, greatly reducing the risk of having your websites infected. |

Fax2EmailProblem receiving fax emails? In nearly every case, that the there is no fault on the Fax to Email solution, but the clients email server is blocking the emails. Please see below for some simple checks you can make on the fax to email system which can help you quickly and effectively test the incident The diagnostic pre-checks and solutions include: 1. A simple diagnostic check to ensure the emails are routing correctly is to change the fax destination on the Wavenetinbound portal to an alternative email and test by sending a fax to the 08nn number. If the fax is delivered, then there is no fault on the Fax2email platform. If this does occur advise the customer to test their email settings and junk filter. 2. We also recommend advising your IT department to white list our email servers as the emails may be rejected before they enter the email system completely. Our email server and DNS addresses are listed below:
3. Please enter a valid email address in the ‘email from’ field on the Wavenetinbound portal Fax2email setup, you should then be advised of any bounce-backs or undelivered messages that are received back from the end users server.
